What Is a Two-Piece Locking Gasket & Locking Key?
Locking gaskets are designed to provide a secure seal between stationary glass windows and metal or fiberglass automotive body panels. The two-piece design is highly resistant to numerous environmental conditions and is used with a locking key (available in black or chrome) to lock the gasket.
Over time, the rubber molding around the front, side, and rear windows of a car or truck can become hard and inflexible. In some cases, the rubber molding can even shrink in size. If left untreated, this shrinkage can lead to water damage, as water and moisture can easily leak into the car through these broken or cracked seals. How do you install a locking gasket?
Installation is easy—you’ll just need to lubricate the window gasket with soap and water. For even easier installation, work the window into the desired position with a set of Trim-Lok’s glass trim installation tools. For extra protection, experts recommend replacing the rubber molding when you replace the windows.
How do I know which locking gasket I need?
You must know the thickness of the glass you'll be installing before ordering your part from Trim-Lok. To ensure the gasket will fit properly, you'll need to establish its length. You can do so by measuring the height and width of the glass. Take that measurement and multiply it by two to get the overall length of the gasket window seal you need.
